The new BMW 7 Series presented in Paris is setting a new benchmark. This applies to BMW ConnectedDrive as well.
With the new version of the BMW iDrive BMW ConnectedDrive customers have the latest advanced connectivity features on board.
For example essentially more safety. Imagine you?re in an accident.
The Advanced eCall ensures that the rescue forces have even more details on the type of collision and possible injuries before they even arrive at the scene of an accident
and therefore are able to prepare appropriate medical treatment of the victims in the shortest possible time.
New tools to improve the convenience of driving a BMW include Remote Services.
These are telephone-based services which customers are able to use anywhere in the world to have their vehicle locked or unlocked.
As already presented in Geneva, BMW ConnectedDrive has brought the Internet into the car.
BMW is the world?s first car manufacturer who provides the World Wide Web in the vehicle.
Upcoming innovations include BMW Routes, to be launched in the final quarter of 2008.
These routes are specially recommended by BMW with interesting point of interessts like Restaurants, museums, Hotels etc.
BMW ConnectedDrive customers have the convenience to download the chosen route directly inside their BMW. |

Robert Kubica comments on Shanghai: "The first three corners are the best of the entire lap. You approach Turn 1 at high speed and even maintain your pace when negotiating the first part of the bend. But then the corner gets tighter and tighter. This year, nailing the exit of the corner will be even trickier as we wont have traction control any more." Judging from the new 7 Series BMW is presenting here, BMW EfficientDynamics is available in the entire, line-up,
from the BMW 1 Series straight to the top of the line-up in the BMW 7 Series.
After the presentation last year of the BMW Concept X6 ActiveHybrid, BMW is showcasing another hybrid concept: the BMW Concept 7 Series ActiveHybrid.
Wieland Bruch, explains how the unique, broad-scale effect of BMW EfficientDynamics is achieved by technologies used at low cost for customers in all segments.
Consistently continuing this strategy, BMW is set to introduce hybrid technology with a great potential for further efficiency borne out in particular
in higher segments of the market in more powerful vehicles.
As part of BMW EfficientDynamics, ongoing electrification of the drivetrain all the way to full hybridisation offers additional advantages in fuel economy.
The BMW Concept X6 ActiveHybrid - also present in Paris - has already demonstrated the requirements to a hybrid model built by the BMW Group:
greater driving dynamics under all driving conditions than on existing hybrid cars and, at the same time, a double-digit enhancement of efficiency
compared to corresponding models without hybrid technology.

At the Paris Motor Show, BMW debuts a new concept BMW X model in the premium compact segment.
Barely one year after showing the BMW X6 as a concept car, the founder of the Sports Activity Vehicle segment is expanding ist range of X Models.
With the first Sports Activity Vehicle in the Premium Compact Segment, BMW is actually defining a new segment.
Does that mean that BMW is acutally creating a new Segment?
The BMW Concept X1 is an innovative, modern interpretation of an X vehicle in the compact class.
With its robust design characteristics the BMW Concept X1 clearly belongs to the X family.
At the same time, it extends the X family in a progressive way.
This vehicle makes an authentic transition of the features and design language typical of a BMW X model into a new class of vehicles.
The BMW Concept X1 sets a new standard of cool elegance, modern style and functional variability.
The six contour lines and the three-dimensional shape define the surface design of the engine compartment lid emanating a strong feeling of dynamic performance.
The inner lines taper out sharply to the front towards the BMW kidney grille. The outer lines continue into the shoulder contours at the side.
Characteristic rear end with L-shaped rear light clusters ensuring a homogeneous light effect thanks to LED light tubes. Raked to a low angle, the rear window
gives the BMW Concept X1 a truly sporting touch, the horizontal lines emphasising the sheer width of the vehicle. |

Referring to the functional benefits, Nader demonstrates how the clearly laid-out cockpit seems instantly familiar.
The centre console is slightly angled towards the driving seat, giving drivers the feeling that all controls are literally designed around them.
The use of the finest materials means the interior feels as special to touch as it looks to the eye.
A truly exciting feature are the rear seats with massage and climate function, making travel in the new BMW 7 Series unparalleled.
Twelve massage units relax the back muscles like a professional masseur, to relax and stimulate passengers on long journeys.

From the side, ist shoulder line is particularly striking ? it runs all the way along the car bonnet to boot, leinding the vehicle an inimitable elegance.

These innovations for enhanced fuel economy go hand in hand with even greater and more fulfilling sheer driving pleasure. BMW EfficientDynamics. Less emissions. More driving pleasure. Jan-Christiaan Koenders, Vice President in charge of Communications, explains how the momentum BMW have been building with BMW EfficientDynamics since last year is real and measurable:
- TODAY 23 BMW models comply with the exhaust emission standard EU5.
- TODAY 40 percent of the European BMW fleet run s below the limit of 140 grams of CO2 per kilometer
- The one millionth BMW vehicle with BMW EfficientDynamics measures was a BMW 520d, the only vehicle in the medium category with a CO2 level of less than 140 grams per kilometer and EU5 classification.
- No other manufacturer has reduced CO2 emissions further than BMW. This has been confirmed by the environmental NGO Transport and Environment, based on data published by the EU commission.
- Numerous international awards and prizes confirm the unique success of the BMW EfficientDynamics development strategy:
- The BMW 118d only recently received the World Green Car of the Year Award.
- In Germany and Britain, BMW EfficientDynamics has been lauded as the most effective package for reducing fuel consumpton and emissions.
- The latest Dow Jones Sustainability Index lauds BMW as the "most sustainable car maker worldwide". |
