Podcast No. 30 has stories and music being treated with love and care. And the grooviness has been piling up as much as my work has. Maybe the next podcast will be about all those sixties dances, maybe it will be a cocktail party podcast, we'll see! You shouldn't have to wait too long this time.
Find out more about the Filles Fragiles compilation launches under Upcoming (here left).
And another thing, aka blowing my own horn: think about hiring me! If you would like to have a swinging French party, some classy dinner party music or an absolute back to the sixties trip a gogo, drop me a line.
My recent gigs include a corporate marketing party on a huge boat and a way too short trip to Berlin. Feel free to follow me on Twitter as well.

Bam, bop, whizz! The music will get you dreaming, dancing, swinging or just snapping your fingers. So go to your happy place like I do where the bar is stocked, the people are beautiful and the music is brought to you by Podcast No. 29, which took way too long, I know! I will make it up to you all soon, but for now, be cool and get ready to shake yourself or a drink.

I don't like the way they treat their records, but that's why we have podcasts nowadays! Speaking of which, Podcast No. 28 is full of stories and music being treated with love and care. I threw in an extra song because it's been a while. In the mean time, the grooviness has been piling up, so you'll never go hungry!
For those of you who have been asking, feel free to find out more about my upcoming spinning activities.

The Chick Habit party on 24 November was also the launch of the new CD Filles Fragiles compiled by Guuzbourg over at Filles Sourires after much hard work. Two songs are featured in Podcast No. 26: a duet by Salvatore Adamo & Olivia Ruiz and another by Serge Gainsbourg & Jane Birkin. As well, in the hipster catergory, the oh so dreamy young Jacques Dutronc and a more mature yet charming Gilbert Bécaud. Sandwiched in between are the very mellow Françoise Hardy and the very uppity Sylvie Vartan.
Playlist
Salvatore Adamo & Olivia Ruiz - Ce George(s)
Jacques Dutronc - Le responsable
Gilbert Bécaud - L'orange
Françoise Hardy - Comment te dire adieu ?
Sylvie Vartan - M'amuser

Back from two weeks of French record shopping in Montréal, Québec, I scored me an interview with record collector and sixties girl group enthusiast Denis Lalonde (photo) of the well-known Ultra Chicks compilations and record store Le Pick-Up. Podcast No. 25 features this interview as well as an all-out French Canadian music podcast, complete with accents and quebecisms.
Les Minous Blancs need to be believed, while Les Milady's cover France Gall oh so sweetly. Karo sings a song about buzzing bugs, Les Hou-Lops show off their buzzing guitars and Michèle Richard & Denis Pantis cover Serge Gainsbourg. In the end, you can picture me singing along to Pierre Lalonde when nobody is watching.
Playlist
Les Minous Blancs - Oh non jamais
Les Milady's - Jazz à gogo
Karo - Les bibittes
Les Hou-lops - Oh non !
Michèle Richard & Denis Pantis - Bonnie and Clyde
Pierre Lalonde - Nous on est dans le vent

It's time to cosy up by the fire, sit on the deep pile carpet and thrown on some records! Podcast No. 24 was inspired by this album cover, which I found unexpectedly at a small flea market in Amsterdam that had no reason to even have any records. For the rest of the story and more, you'll have to listen to the podcast.
Les Surfs announce the end of summer, Eartha Kitt manages to tell you want kind of man she wants, as she does in almost every song, Colette Renard sings an entire dirty song, Nat King Cole tests his French skills phonetically yet again, Sheila makes you a bit sad and Jacques Dutronc tells you why he likes girls.
Playlist
Les Surfs - Quand vient la fin de l'été
Eartha Kitt - C'est si bon
Colette Renard - Les nuits d'une demoiselle
Nat King Cole - Les feuilles mortes
Sheila - Bang bang
Jacques Dutronc - J'aime les filles

Warning! Podcast No. 23 is educational and good fun for the entire family! Gabriel Dalar has mom and dad snapping their fingers without getting off the sofa, while Les Classels lets the kids twist it out of their system. Stone has the perfect song for rebellious teens and Claude Bolling provides you with some good, wholesome Madison moves. Stella allows the entire family to bone up on their knowledge of Nouvelle Vague films by playing "name that movie" and Shirley Théroux gives parents enough time to make some popcorn, send the kids to bed and pop in a black and white film with sexy French actors of the 1960s.
Playlist

It's bikini time again in St. Tropez, with a young Catherine Deneuve riding the waves!
Stuck in that nasty, stuffy Paris traffic jam? Go franco à gogo with Podcast No. 22! Les Parisiennes want to get out of town like the rest of Paris, down to the breezy Côte d'Azur, while Gillian Hills uses her charms to hitch a ride. Once we get there, suave regular Sacha Distel even scores us a room. Then sexy but shy Dalida is afraid to walk around in her bikini, but eventually does 'cause everybody else is doing it. France Gall falls for some Scandinavian guitar-playing cutie and Marie Laforêt sings that sad yet beautiful song by the camp fire on the beach when the sun goes down.
Bonus! Off the new and modern Maison Close compilation, a real party number by Cucumber called ‘Boogaloo Au One Two Two'.

Gillan Hills - Cha cha stop
Sacha Distel - Plage à St-Tropez

Podcast No. 20 starts off psychedelic with some Richard de Bordeaux & Daniel Beretta and Les Papyvores, moves in a female direction with Sophie Mansart and Christine Pilzer, and finishes up in jazz lounge with Les Double Six and Lucky Blondo.
I want to know: are there other James Bond themes in French? I own Bob Asklöf ‘Bons baisers de Russie' (From Russian with Love)(see Podcast No. 2), Mireille Mathieu ‘Les yeux de l'amour' ('The Look of Love', original Casino Royale) and Lucky Blondo ‘Tu vivras deux fois' ('You Only Live Twice'). I already know about Michel Legrand's music to ‘Never Say Never Again' and Isabelle Aubret doing ‘Savez-vous ce qu'il faut au sapin de Noël ?' (that Christmas ditty with children singing in ‘On Her Majesty's Secret Service'). If you know anything, please tell me by commenting here.

Chantal Goya is not sure about a guy, while Camille is very sure about him. Fabienne Delsol does France Gall her way and Jocelyne hums along merrily. Near the end, things go live with Vanessa Paradis and our man Richard Anthony twists his way out of girl trouble.

Come over for dinner and after we can listen to some records and Podcast No. 18! That's the new pick up line these days, pardon the pun, according to the lovely French duo, Radiomatic. Then, there's coffee or tea with chocolate truffles listening to Philippe Nicaud, while the host fetches that bottle of cognac he keeps for those really special guests. As he pours you all a stiff one, Dario Moreno gets exotic, and once you've started dancing, Nino Ferrer keeps those organ grooves going. And then once you've realised how amazing that retro leather couch is to sit on and just keep drinking, France Gall gets your fingers tapping, as does Michel Magne and his movie finale.
Playlist
Radiomatic - Zoï zoï
Philippe Nicaud - Cuisses nues, bottes de cuir
Dario Moreno - Instanbul
Nino Ferrer - Alexandre
France Gall - Jazz à gogo

Back to business with some groovy, jazzy and twangy tunes! Podcast No. 16 goes from modern to old and from one country to the next, like a get-in-your-car-and-drive musical roadtrip. Did I say trip? Jenny Rock pleads her case, while 5 Gentlemen make theirs. Next stop, a request for some Marie Laforêt, an uppity visit with Joël Denis and a pit stop to shake your limbs with Ariane. Listen for that scrumptious drum intro by Les Champions at the end of the road.

Jenny Rock - Donne-moi ta jeunesse
5 Gentlemen - Si tu reviens chez moi

It's time for a theme podcast! Podcast No. 15 features some nice French cinema music that makes you want to know more about the films they come from. Michel Magne gets two chances with spy music from OSS 117 and Fantomas. Then, there's Georges Garvarentz on the soft drugs and Michel Legrand with some of his groovy strings. To top if off, a soft-spoken classic by Pierre Barouh from A man and a woman and Philippe Clay from the film Barocco. I realise the poster is misleading, but I do recommened Les Parapluies de Cherbourg to anyone who enjoys heavy colour contrasts, a good tear jerker and a young Catherine Deneuve.
Playlist
Michel Magne - Bagarre à Bangkok
Georges Garvarentz - Haschisch Party
Michel Legrand - Come Ray and Come Charles

People take anything when there?s nothing
They get that way,
Just like that.
What they need is a little darling
A hermit or, a big star.
Some plastic or rubber thingamajig,
Some little thing, some kind of a toy.
That burns up like tinder does.
People are crazed, the times are a haze,
The times are a haze, and people are crazed.
Download Podcast No. 13 and sing along in English to my translation of the first verse of Jacques Dutronc's "Les gens sont fous, les temps sont flous". No really, it works!
Next, there's lesser known Ronnie Bird admitting to stalking, followed by Tiny Yong who tries to resist a sweet talker. Nino Ferrer gets funky with food and Ivy does Gainsbourg. In the end, Colette Renard takes it away with a little bit of ‘java'.
