The year is obviously 2008, not 2005 as the evil announcer at the show header describes. Yes, as you will quickly notice, there is some sort of robotic, computer, and videogame nerdery meshed together unseamlessly in this episode, gladly supplied by this uber-geek.
Seriously, we've got some great tracks and a few appearances by DJ's from last month's New Media Expo in Las Vegas, not to mention two artists have blood and sun in their names; what are the chances, and could that be an ominous sign? Enjoy and as usual, please help support all the hard-working artists below.

We recently received a message from one of our favorite bands here at Insomnia. Patrick Keenan of The Winter Sounds wanted to proudly share one of the new tracks they just recorded over at Cacophony Recorders in Austin, and rightly so. Pinebox is the name of this beautiful new track and is now being released on a 3 song EP before the band makes it way to Athens in October and November to start afresh on their next full length album.
The band would really appreciate any donations or EP purchases to help them make this goal, so they can rightly sink their heart and soul into the creation of the next full length we are all eagerly anticipating.
Purchase links and donation information is location at their website: thewintersounds.com

Insomnia Radio has rejoined The Association of Music Podcasting (AMP) after quite a long absence. AMP was founded close to the advent of the podcasting medium, and has a hundred plus shows in their musical pipeline for your perusal.

What is AMP?
AMP is a group of music podcasters who wish to promote and support this great medium. All members of AMP have regular podcasts that have been judged by their peers to maintain a high standard of quality.
AMP works with music podcasters to set and maintain high standards and independent artists who provide podsafe music to the public through Creative Commons copyright licensing.
The association also supports listeners by offering a list of quality, creative podcasts and produces a digest podcast (AMPed) featuring the very best music offered by individual programs that week.

Well hey gang. It's been forever. I trust you're all still getting your dose of killer independent music as Charles, Stuart & crew are doing an amazing job here at IR. Me? I've started quite literally an entirely new life, new home, new careers. (yes, plural.you know me!)
The past few weeks have led to the culmination of a new network that just launched today: www.gamesareevil.com, which houses an international staff led by myself and Phil Coyne, who you may remember from Bitjobs and the original IR:UK, as well as Rob LeFebvre who handled design on the 4-issue KillYourFM Magazine. I know there are some passionate gamers in the house, and this message is for you.
I know what you?re thinking: ?ANOTHER video game website?? The short answer: Yep!
The long answer goes something like this: The entire staff at GamesAreEvil HQ is on a mission to deliver honest, relevant, and fun videogame journalism. Sounds a bit cliche, right? Then let?s turn things upside down and get into the nitty gritty.
- We?re tired of linkbait-ridden websites forcing unconfirmed rumors down our throats three times daily. No more noise!
- We don?t plan on following the rules.
- No fanboys here: We go where the quality games are.
- We believe your time is valuable, and so is ours. If a game isn?t worth your time, chances are you?ll rarely see us write about it.
- No ratings systems, no numbers, no stars. In our warped and geeky minds, a game is either worth renting, worth buying, or not worth your time, and we?ll give you our informed decision without bias.
- We believe that gaming, AND gaming journalism, is ALL about community. There are no one-sided conversations here. Tell us what?s on your mind, and you?ll see us spring into action.
- For now and into the near future, whatever titles we cover, you can bet we?ve plunked down hard earned cash for them. This is a passionate bunch, and we?re here to stay.
- We like the independents of the gaming world, too.
So head over, subscribe to the RSS Feed, and pat yourself on the back for being there.
Thanks for continuing to enjoy Insomnia Radio!
Game on;
Jason Evangelho

On July 19, 2008 an incredible selection of musical talent assembled under the shadow of the famed eighty-one year old Cyclone rollercoaster at the storied community of Coney Island in Brooklyn, New York.
This mixtape is a salute to the Siren Music Festival put on by the Village Voice, a free all day/all ages music celebration that got its start in 2001 as a way to help revitalize this historic community and celebrate the Voice's coverage of local & national music.
We've graciously had one of the photographers at the event, Josh Kuckens, offer up a few images to be posted here, this specific image being "Film School", an artist from both San Francisco & Los Angeles.
Make sure to check out the rest of his photos, including a full sized version of this one, here. Also you can check out side B of this mixtape over in our festival comp. section.

Today we bring you what they call in your country, ‘The Coffee Break'. Its a nice assortment of different sound selections starting off a heavier note and gradually ending at a light-hearted party somewhere in Spain, straight out of something that belongs on the 80's Something Wild Soundtrack.
As usual we are all over the regional board although mostly in the US this time around. We take you from Texas (Austin, Dallas), California (Half Moon Bay, San Francisco, Long Beach, Irvine), Washington (Seattle), Pennsylvania (Philadelphia), Minnesota (Minneapolis), and of course Spain (Valencia).
Enjoy, and don't forget to grab an extra cup on your way through!

The 2008 Warped Tour engine fires up today in Pomona, California (US) and the musicians invited will spend the majority of the summer nomadically performing across the country, storming toward the East Coast and then making their way back to Carson, CA for a grand finale in mid-August.
I've done my best to filter out the most breathy angst, gutteral Middle Earth screaming drowning out skillful instrumentation, excessive voice modulation, and tearful weeping hearts.
What's left are around fifty of the stronger tracks from a more well balanced range of music that I could locate, spread across three mixtapes - the first of which you can listen to here. You'll find that some artists in this compilation are playing the entire tour, while a few have been chosen to play select dates.
Please enjoy and check out the rest of this series in our festival mixtape section, right on the heels of this hourlong driverless ride. Muahaha!

After Stuart's 45 minute in-flight entertainment programming, our plane touches down in the Far East. well. far enough east - New Jersey. We begin our journey diving fist first into the action with Union City multi-instrumentalist, Thirst for Hunger.
You'll find that today's episode has quite a bit of an obvious martial arts flair, and it takes us to some unrelated locations like Ireland, Canada, and throughout the States. We ultimately end up on the West Coast in Santa Barbara, CA, where we close out on a mellow meditative note with up-and-coming singer/songwriter Crosby Loggins.
We hope you enjoy the exclusives, classic Kung Fu/Ninjitsu dialogue, and a full hour long ride through a theatrically charged show featuring some of the best music being released worldwide, as well as the corniest cinematic dialogue we could get our hands on. Enjoy, and as always, please support the artists within.

After a two month turbulent voyage, we believe we've located a safespot to service the battle-scarred Insomnia Submariner, and have surfaced to bring you some chanteys from the musicians we've collected along our voyage while we conduct repairs.
This new episode continues somewhat where Jason left off in his final all instrumental offering; at least the first track by Saskatchewan outfit, Geronimo whom lead us into the rest of the quality mixed tracks we've discovered in our recent travels.
Shows will resume on a 1-2 week schedule with a few rotating regional hosts bringing you new content. Also, the Daily Dose feed is now live again with featured content pumping through the engines seven days a week, keeping us all motoring along. You can subscribe at Feedburner and on iTunes as well. We are about a week in at this point. Also, keep eye out for our regional shows as well!
If you are looking for Jason, he will be returning to podcasting, but as part of a new mixed media project he's developing at the link farther below.
