As I mentioned before, we did interviews with some of the guys from Institubes Paris Terror Club a few months ago. Here's Para One's interview from that night. You probably didn't know he did films on the side for fun besides music, huh? Well he has a great documentary project for the Institubes team right now called HOOLIGAN DISCO. Check it out, it's really interesting. You can catch him and Surkin performing tomorrow here in New York!
I'm not in town this weekend so I'm missing some big parties this weekend. The massive return of MSTRKRFT alongside with Felix Cartal and the NYC debut of Congorock is definitely going to be something NOT to miss this Friday night. We've heard that the gold-mask wearing duo have a whole different set and that it will most likely blow your face off alongside their stage setup.
Another famous crew will be returning to town as well on Saturday with Surkin djing and Para One performing live. We had the opportunity to interview these two fantastic performers, as well as Bobmo, back at the 3-year anniversary of Cut NYC. Below is the first of the 3 extended interviews you have long been waiting for.
The Outlaws sent us another great remix, this time around its for Sneaky Sound System. The boys claim their version is a bit weirder and darker than the other mixes, but hey, that's what makes it interesting to listen to and throw on.
The folks at Dim Mak have hooked us up with two VIP tickets for this Friday's Flosstradamus show at Avalon in LA. The Chi-town boys will be rocking all night alongisde Hyphy Crunk and Marshall Barnes in what is guaranteed to be a drunken fun time.
To win the tickets all you have to do is e-mail us your age, name, and tell us the funniest thing that's happened to you at a party or show. Best story wins!
If you want to be sure you have a pair of tickets you can RSVP with Dim Mak or buy the tickets online here.
Noisia are back with a new release, B.R.U.L, out on their own DIVISION Recordings. It's hard as nails gritty electro banger that is sure to plaster your face against the wall in true Noisia fashion. The guys have been leaning more lately towards harder electro and have been producing fantastic tracks, I expect these guys to become even bigger than they currently are in the next year here in the states if they continue pushing this. Download is not available, but stream below!
OCD Automatic is a dj, promoter, and all-time party man from Madison, Wisconsin. You may have heard of his Whitney Houston remix over on BigStereo. He was in New York for a little and played a few gigs, including the one you're about to hear.
Recorded live in a wall-shifting art gallery tucked away in a shady non-descript street in Manhattan, OCD absolutely killed it and got the kids going crazy.
Get transported to Wisconsin now via our newest Subdrive LIVE SELEKTOR mix.

Sick track from Chase & Status featuring the vocal styles of Plan B from their upcoming album MORE THAN ALOT out on Ram Records October 13th. The video shows the guys getting a video from one of their ex-gf's doing the most messed up things a person could do to you out of spite.
Download the track below, but seriously pick this up in full-quality when it drops!
I like Kids With Snakes. They're quirky, interesting, and artists, plus they threw a party called I Can Haz Party....awesome. They also know good music and get people in the mood to have a fun time at their parties. WIth that said, they sent me their new mix for NYC party photographer Nicky Digital's site. Some classics on the mix and some new stuff; the vibe is pretty upbeat.

New stuff for you from The Count aka Count of Monte Cristal and Sinden. Their new joint, Hardcore Girls features 17-year old rising mc Rye Rye, and is an excellent successor to Beeper. We've got the original video and a great remix from Dom Rimini below. Catch the guys on tour and at a secret special show.
To celebrate the release of "Hardcore Girls," The Count & Sinden will be hosting a special all-nighter at a secret location in Shoreditch on October 11th, featuring a performance by The Count & Sinden, along with DJ sets from both, Fake Blood and local hero Hannah Holland, to name but a few surprises. The location will be revealed the week of the show at www.buggedout.com and www.myspace.com/countandsinden.

Thanks to the guys at Discobelle for bringing this to our attention. Adam Freeland has been playing out an edit of Daft Punk's Aerodynamic with a bit of a chant for Barack Obama. It's pretty nice considering that in the realm of electronic music I haven't seen some outright political endorsements via tracks. We all know people are supporting certain candidates but hearing it outright on the track is a great and different thing.
If you're an Obama supporter, rock the track all the way through Election Day on November 4th. Oh and I promise to never get political on here, but this is really important. If you haven't registered for your absentee ballots or registered to vote in New York or your home state, do it now. The deadline is literally a week away.
Portmanteau are "Two silly young men from Bristol who have decided that bass heavy electro, owls, Mexican wrestling masks, and bright colours make for the best possible way to while away the hours. Portmanteau combines live instrumentation, children?s instruments, synthesisers, samplers, visuals, and their owl known only as ?the Colonel?."
It's spacey, fun, disco electro and doesn't waste its time on overwritten vocals. Tracks like Thouse and Spafe definitely stand out on their new self-titled EP with warbling synths and sharp disco-era stabs.
Check out more of their stuff and give them some love at their myspace.
An entry for the Little JinderREMIX EP Contest, Portugal's VARIG has done a remix that can be best described as spaced-out dub four-four. Some elements of the track border on dub-step tinged with minimal, teasing at something bigger but never really delivering until the end. Nonetheless, it's still something that can be great to put on mid-set. Keep your sub on high for this so you get the full experience.
DFA's The Juan Maclean are going on tour to support their new album, "The Future Will Come". We got a link to their new track, Find A Way, but didn't have authorization to share with you all, until now as RCRDLBL has the honors.
The previous tour was in celebration of "Happy House", the massive international club hit being spun ubiquitously from Ibiza to Santo's Party House in NYC, but this tour will be bringing "The Simple Life", the second track to be introduced on September 15th (UK) /16th (US) from the forthcoming album ?The Future Will Come?.
"The Simple Life" is an effective mixture of dark arpeggiated synth and militant italo disco drumming, with each bass line and chord change a step towards the light, which in this case belongs to Nancy Whang and the melancholy ambience her presence exudes. She trades verses back and forth with Juan himself, who comes on like a robot in therapy, slowly enunciating love confessions like "promises I never meant, it's just what I had to do."
Juan and Nancy will be supported on stage by Nick Millhiser and Gerry Fuchs (!!! and Turing Machine).
The Juan MacLean's new album, The Future Will Come, is due out in early 2009.
We know you want to be there?
The Juan Maclean US Tour Dates:
08/02: Rosarito,MX @ Rosarito Beach Strip
08/16: Monterrey, NL @ Aura Club
08/23: Denver, CO @ Cervantes Masterpiece Ballroom
You may have seen car-maker Citroen's transformer-style ads where their cars are ice-skating, running, or break dancing around an urban landscape. In one of their latest ads, we see a robot-car dancing to MC Lita's version of The Bee Gee's classic Staying Alive decked out with a disco-ball beret, disco lights, and jeweled teeth.
Though I've heard there is an official digital release coming soon, I really don't recommend playing this version out at any clubs as it sounds more like a rip.
Talk about being floored. I've been holding on to these for a while, and I can't keep them to myself anymore! I got these tracks in the mail from the up and coming GRIN Recordings the other day and was really impressed. These two tracks are from one of their star production teams, Jack Michaels + Mark Batch.
The best of the two is their track R.I.D.. If you're looking for a big room sound, but want a hard electro edge, this is it. Oh, and it's got the freaking Transformers effects in it for that extra oomph.
It's easy to hear why they've also become Ibiza anthems this past summer with the mega-club friendly To Find Me. With its simple vocals, sharp synth and beautiful string arrangement later in the bridge of the track, you just have to forget what you're doing and just dance.
If you love the tracks, be sure to pick up the full-on DJ/club friendly 320s for R.I.D. on Juno and Beatport now. Can't wait to hear what GRIN and these guys have down the pipeline!
We caught Love Brigade's new 2009 line this past Friday in China Town and were happily impressed. Finger on the Pulse did a great job pumping out some quality tunes, while the models filled the space in a not-so fashion show style display.
The concept of Love Brigade's VIVA LA FUTURE/Ex-Oh line is budget-aware, locally-made to order clothing. Basically they know that the economy is down deep and they want to provide people with hip fashion, but at a lower cost. It's a great idea and definitely one that makes sense coming from Love Brigade.
Even their show was different. They opted to show their new line in different situations, like vignettes, with abstract environments. One line had a female model lying on a dinner table while the male models "ate her" with foam-board knives and forks. Another set had three female models tanning with reflectors that said "VIVA. LA. FUTURE."
Probably the coolest one, and the end of their show, was the closing with Finger on the Pulse throwing on some tracks complete with a shiny disco ball. Models proceeded to dance for about 5-10 minutes rocking the LB gear.
Check out our shots from the show below. Photography by Tara Van Der Linden and Priyanka Patel.
FINALLY. After years of just DJ sets here in the United States, the guys are finally going on a full-on live assault. Their first live performance in the states was at this year's Coachella and they absolutely tore the house down from what folks are saying. They've taken their distinct, uber-polished drum 'n bass productions and finally crossed them over into the heavy rock arena.
If you've listened to our older mixes, you should know Pendulum. They are one of drum 'n bass's top-notch productions groups and were signed to Warner Bros Records recently to release what is now their rock/drum 'n bass album, In Silico. You may have heard them without even knowing it from the Verizon commercial featuring their track Mutiny, which you can pick up here.
These shows will definitely be something to see as they're performing with their entire six-person band. Below is a list of tour dates. Also, if you haven't picked up the new album, In Silico, do it. It's probably their best work to date and shows that drum 'n bass can be something more than just club music.
Oh, and to give you a sample of what you'll hear check out the Celldweller and Van She Tech remixes of Pendulum's Propane Nightmares from In Silico.
