Once again my regular broadcast is preempted by UCONN Sports. I was able to satisfy my "radio habit" with a one hour time slot fill-in. Although we have no particular theme, I would like to draw your attention to the incredible, 16 plus minutes, Chico Freeeman/Arthur Blythe track Footprints (Wayne Shorter composition). This and several other tracks I have played on recent shows were brought to my attention from Ken Blanchard's excellent blog Jazz Note SDP. Check out his blog for some very valuable recommendations to build your jazz music library.

We start out this show with Claire's excellent selections of jazz and fusion tracks, followed by music inspired from some recent live performances we attended in Hartford and NYC.
Pork Pie Hat Jazz Series

We open tonight's show featuring the Pork Pie Hat Jazz series. This series of five jazz shows is sponsored by the Hartford Office of Cultural Affairs, and produced by friend of this show, Andres Chaparro. Insight performed last week, and it was a great scene to see the community turn out to support live jazz in downtown Hartford. We finish the show with a birthday tribute to John Coltrane, who would have been 82 last week.
