Andy & Rich of Letherette met decades ago and have been making mysterious, charmingly unpolished music ever since. Their warm, tape enhanced beats are crafted from bits and pieces of the finest, melodic source material from music's golden genres, funk and soul. Their roughly chopped rhythms are imbued with a personable, feel good vibe that is lacking in most modern music these days. Everyone from Madlib, MF Doom, Flying Lotus to Pete Rock comes to mind when listening to this mix. Frankly, its sublime and we're proud to host this mix of selected tape scraps and bits. Be sure to keep an eye out for their debut album, out in the near future on Normrex.

Kper Wonk Fonk DJ Mix

Kper is the musical alias of Laurent Fintoni, music journalist and writer at large. Laurent regularly writes/has written for magazines and websites worldwide including ATM (UK), Serie B (Spain), Scratch (US), Bangkok Metro (Thailand), Japanzine (Japan), Undercover (UK), ukhh.com and spannered.org (UK). The inspiration for this "Wonk Fonk" Mix came from an article and series of interviews conducted and written in spring 08 for Serie B magazine. Its all about a new generation of hip hop producers and beat makers and how their approach to production has helped to usher in an evolved return to the boom bap. Hip Hop fans take notice. This mix is ill.

Morgan Packard has been involved with music since his early studies in Jazz Saxaphone at Boston's New England Conservatory. Most recently known for his collaboration with Ezekiel Honig on "Early Morning Migration," Morgan has been honing his skillful manipulation of ambient soundscapes into an enchanting live set which he debuted at this past summer's BAPLab. Expect blissful drones and minimal textures in this short but sweet set.

Lackluster, a Percussion Lab favorite, has finally graced us with a lengthy, crunchy set of melodically minded electronics. With an extensive back catalog of releases on labels such as DeFocus, Merck, UCover and New Speak, Lackluster has always been skilled in drawing the listener in with emotive melodies and off-kilter beats. Be sure to not sleep on his earlier releases, such as the classic, "Wrapping." This set takes things down a slightly darker, more cut up route - possibly even more effective than Lacklusters more naive sounding earlier work. Lacklusters releases are available conveniently through his online web-based shop located at lackluster.org.

Deru's remix on the latest Machine Drum remix album from M3rck is a perfect blend of these seemingly disparate elements. Be sure to check Chemta's great new project, "The Fun Years."

Ezekiel Honig, based out of NYC and head of the Microcosm label, brings us a fantastic slice of warm, minimal, melodic crackles and ambience. Ezekiels music here is a perfect example of honest, unpretentious minimal electronic music. The off kilter, 4/4 techno flavors give the performance the movement it needs at exactly the right points. Mr. Honigs debut album, People Places Things, is still one of our favorite minimal electronic albums of the past five years. Boltfish Recordings, founded in January 2004 by Cheju and Mint, specializes in a mixture of electronic and organic sounds. The range of their artists styles varies from IDM to Glitch to Indie Electronica. This DJ mix, compliments of Boltfish Recordings Cheju, features new, upcoming and unreleased music from the label and its artists. Tracks from J. Ryan Elliott has gained notoriety over the past few years by spinning sets that are as well crafted and sophisticated as they are danceable. From ice cold minimal techno to summer house beats, Elliott has played both big rooms and martini bars with equal success. Utilizing 3 decks, multiple audio sources and outboard effects are par for the course. With a fervent interest in the emerging international techno scene, he is a walking dictionary of artists, labels and releases. This mix was recorded in Berlin this past September and is a declicious slice of the illest techno being spun today.

Lusine Live

Lusine has been making electronic music for over a decade now, having released on such labels as K7!/MAS, Hymen, U-Cover and now Ghostly International. His production has developed to the point where his lush interpretation of IDM sets the bench for scores of imitators. This visceral, melodic set combines Lusines thick beats and atmospheric melodies into a head nodding and ass shaking utopia. Be sure to check out Lusines latest full length on Ghostly International, Serial Hodgepodge. Hes got plenty of music in the archives for you to dig up so if you enjoy his set, be sure to seek out his equally impressive older releases.

SRL Label Showcase Mix

Phil Parker, co-founder of Ai Records and founder of SRL (Suburb the Record Label), brings us this DJ Mix showcasing the artists and music of SRL. Launched in the summer of 2005, this mix will most likely be the first glimpse of this promising label for many of you. Although closely associated with Ai Records, SRL is not an offshoot label. It is a new label with a new musical plicy. Their first release, the SRL Sampler, is due out at the end of this month. This set is a perfectly timed primer for the sound of SRL. SRL is also closely associated with the London Electrics Collective, a collaboration between Ai Records, Expanding Records, Furthur, Highpoint Lowlife, Seed Records, SRL and Uncharted Audio. LE-01, a 12 track compilation featuring exclusive tracks from all the labels, will be released in August alongside a new magazine dedicated to the London electronica scene!

Yair Etziony and Ido Govrin Live from Tel Aviv

The founders and owners of Interval Records, Yair Etziony and Ido Govrin specialize in micro-music and electro-acoustic composition. These two live sets combine to form a more beat heavy side of Interval. Yair Etziony, one half of the Neo Ouija group Faction, mixes homemade micro house, dub and techno for his detroit and cologne influenced live set. Ido Govrin, who has released music for Neo Ouija and Mille Platteux, produces a live mix of ambient swathes of warm sound and minimal beats. Its a warm, minimal affair, with both artists exploring the spaces between sounds as much as the sounds themselves. This back to back set is available freely as a dual chapter podcast on the iTunes Music Store or as a compressed pack of two MP3s. The podcast available on the iTunes Music Store exists as a single AAC file with selectable markers, links and artwork for the individual sets.

Apegenine Recordings Showcase Mix

Apegenine Recordings, launched as a Genshi Media subdivision in 2003 by Vincent Fugere, specializes in independent electronic music. This set, mixed by Vincent in 2005, showcases their increasingly stellar catalog of warm electronic music. Apegenine Recordings small but striking catalog consists of artists such as David Kristian, Kaneel and Surasshu and guest artists such as Khonnor, Julien Neto and Xhale.

Extramile Album Showcase Mix

Extramile, formed in early 2004 and comprised of producer DLG and vocalist Nlkkta, are a smooth blend of downtempo beats and ambient vocals. Elements of ambient, breakbeat, house and drum and bass make up their debut release, Forecast, which is featured in this fifty minute mix. DLG, having previously composed house music for Eyezcream Recordings, delivers the beats, while Nlkkitas vocals spice up the tracks. Mixed by DLG during the spring of 2005.
